Biography

Cameron Michelle Diaz was born on August 30, 1972 and raised in Long Beach, California. An American actress and former fashion model, Cameron is considered one of the most beautiful women in the world. This statuesque blonde stands 5’9”, has sculpted abs, and long legs that seem to stretch on forever. She is best known for her roles in hit movies like “The Mask”, “There’s Something About Mary”, “My Best Friend’s Wedding”, “Charlie’s Angels”, and “Shrek”. She is perhaps the most well-known newcomer to the film industry in the 1990’s.

Cameron is part Cuban, part Native-American and part German. Her father Emilio Diaz is a second-generation Cuban-American and her mother, Billie, is of English, German, and Cherokee Native American ancestry. This blue-eyed blonde bombshell certainly has mixed genes in her body giving her that exotic and unique look that we all admire.

Cameron was a self-confessed mischievous kid. She began attending Hollywood parties while still a teenager and going home late. Her parents were not strict with her, putting up with her wild partying during her teenaged years. She met a lot of people during this party phase of her life including Jeff Dunas, a very well-connected man who would change her whole life. Jeff saw the potential in the blonde beauty and told her he could sign her up with top modeling group Elite Modeling Agency. She took his card and talked about it with her family. After graduating from high school, she went to work in Japan, accompanied only by another fifteen-year old model. “Believe me, you can get into a lot of trouble being sixteen years old in a foreign country with no adult telling you when to come home”, Cameron said about her life in different countries as a model. She met Carlos de La Torre, a video producer, and became her companion for the next five years. The two travelled from continent to continent, country to country, until coming back to California and settling in her Hollywood apartment.

Cameron was a model for Calvin Klein, Levi’s and Coca Cola during her five years in modelling abroad. She wanted to do something more; she knew there was more to her life than just modeling. Her agent suggested that she try acting since a lot of former models have travelled that same road before. Even though she didn’t have any acting experience, she auditioned for roles and in 1994, landed the female lead in the movie, “The Mask”, starring Jim Carrey. This movie established her as one of the best newcomers in the film industry.

She opted to hone her acting skills by playing roles in low-budget, independent films such as “The Last Supper”, “Feeling Minnesota” and “She’s The One”. It was during this period that she ended her five-year relationship with Carlos de La Torre. She played vulnerable female roles in these movies, giving her acting experience and award recognition. She now had several films under her belt and a small following of fans.

She returned to big budget films in “My Best Friend’s Wedding” opposite Hollywood biggie Julia Roberts. She established herself as an actress in a romantic comedy after the film became a huge success and one of the top 10-grossing films of 1997. She also starred in “A Life Less Ordinary” opposite Ewan McGregor that same year. And then “There’s Something About Mary” came along and she became a genuine star and a household name after starring in this film opposite Ben Stiller and Matt Dillon.

It was all smooth sailing from there as she went on to star in movies like “Any Given Sunday” and “Being John Malkovich” (where she earned a nomination for Best Supporting Actress at the Golden Globes, the BAFTA Awards and the SAG awards). In 2000, she debuted as an action star in “Charlie’s Angels” with fellow beauties Drew Barrymore and Lucy Liu. “Shrek” was her first dabble into animation as she lent her voice as Fiona in this ever-popular animated film. She starred opposite Tom Cruise in “Vanilla Sky”, a critically acclaimed film, which earned her Best Actress nominations at the Golden Globes, the SAG Awards and the AFI awards. Cameron is now a veteran actress capable of acting in comedy, action, animation and drama.

She became the second actress after Julia Roberts to earn $20 million for the Charlie’s Angels sequel. She completed more big movie projects like “Minority Report” and “Gangs of New York” where she earned another Golden Globe nomination for Best Supporting Actress.

Her personal life became the focus of several magazines as she has had several high profile relationships with the likes of Jared Leto, Matt Dillon, and Justin Timberlake. She is currently single and said in an interview with British GQ, “When I’m in a relationship I’m very loyal and committed. I give a lot. But it’s been nice not having a boyfriend for the past year. In fact it’s the first time I haven’t had one in ten years and I’m enjoying what I’m getting out of this moment. “I could be in a relationship if I wanted to be but I haven’t finished doing what I’m doing.”

The future looks bright for this beautiful and sexy star. Who knows what else will happen in her very successful and colourful life from being a young model to the veteran actress that she is now. We’re sure she will have a brighter future ahead of her. We are definitely rooting for her continued success as we are all truly Mad4CameronDiaz.
